This type of system will have a variety of different types of coral, fish and invertebrates all comingling in harmony.

Stony Coral Reef
This system focuses primarily on small polyped stony (sps) corals, smaller sized fish, and is considered by many, the pinnacle of reef keeping.

Marine Fish Only
This option is preferred by folks who like large or aggressive fish that may not be suitable in a mixed reef environment. Often these set-ups include fake coral decorations or inserts that need to be removed for cleaning on a regular basis.

Planted Freshwater
This is an advanced freshwater setup that can rival marine reefs with their plants in striking color variations.

African Cichlids
Large numbers of these can be housed together. They are hardy fish that can get by with minimal maintenance, and come in a large assortment of colors. It’s very interesting to watch the social hierarchy emerge.

Koi Ponds
These are ancient fish that have been bred by Japanese fish keepers for thousands of years. In time they will eat from your hand like a dog. They are often incorporated in zen-like backyard ponds.
Species Aquarium
Many animals have a very specific set of requirements that need to be met for them to thrive. Jellyfish and seahorses are a good example of tank inhabitants that can do well if a system is designed keeping those needs in mind.
